Hi there! Welcome to my blog!
You have probably found me here through my website. Let me fill you in on what you are going to see here!
New Years Resolutions are very sacred to me. Some of my biggest accomplishments stem from resolutions I have set for myself at the end / beginning of the year. Something about it feels so fresh, energized, and motivating! So, as 2016 comes to a close, I have written out some new ones.
2017 is going to be another amazing year of growth, but this year I especially want to grow in my craft, and my career. I have so much passion for what I do, and yet I never seem to have enough time set aside for personal projects. With that in mind, I have put together a list of 4 New Years Resolutions for 2017:
1) Complete 1 project each week
2) Build muscle and strength train x3 a week
3) Be more honest
4) Don’t be afraid to fail
A few of these might not seem to be relevant to a design blog, but I assure you, they all work hand in hand. My biggest obstacle in completing work and creating content is also my biggest critic: me. Self doubt and the fear of simply not meeting my own expectations have put lots of ideas and projects to a halt. The problem of course with that is, without any practise, I will never improve enough to meet those expectations. A great video explaining this vicious cycle is The Gap by Ira Glass. That’s where “Don’t be afraid to fail” comes into play.
Being more honest for me, means sharing more of myself with the world. I have tendencies to bottle up what I am thinking and feeling, and I just don’t want to be that way anymore! Starting a blog to share my work, my thoughts, and pieces of my life with an online audience feels like a big step in the right direction. So not only will I be posting projects, rough sketches and creative ideas, I will be posting some personal stuff too! And that includes health and fitness, which has become a big part of my life.
I hope you check in from time to time! Even if it’s only for one aspect of my blog, I would be so flattered! I am so excited to start this blog, this year, and this lifelong journey .
So until next time,
